1-Iodonaphthalen-2-amine is an organic compound with a carbonyl group in the 2 position. It is synthesized by oxidative carbonylation of 2-naphthylamine with a sulfide as the oxygen source. 1-Iodonaphthalen-2-amine can be used as an oxidant in organic synthesis, such as for the synthesis of allenes and anthranilic acid. It is also used to catalyze reactions involving carbon sources and other type of substrates that are not easily oxidized. The reaction yields are typically low but are increased by using a large excess of the reactants.
