Product Information
4-Hydroxy-2-nitrobenzaldehyde is a prodrug that is activated by β-glucuronidase enzymes in the gastrointestinal tract. The resulting 4-hydroxy-2-nitrophenol is then converted to 4-nitrophenol, which has antibacterial activity. This linker can be used as an alternative to amoxicillin for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by β-lactamase producing bacteria, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This linker can also be used for the treatment of biofilm formation and prevention of antibiotic resistance.
