Pseudolaric acid D is a natural product that has been shown to inhibit the production of tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in vitro. This compound has also been shown to have beneficial effects on atherosclerotic lesions, blood pressure, and hematopoietic cells. Pseudolaric acid D is found in the BGC-823 strain of the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus and extracted from its acetate extract. It binds to chemokines and decreases inflammatory responses through inhibition of TNF-α.
