Product Information
4-Aminomethylbenzene-1,3-diol hydrochloride (4AMBD) is a carbamoylating agent that inhibits protein synthesis. It reversibly binds to the active site of the ribosome and blocks the peptidyl transferase activity, which prevents polypeptide chain elongation. 4AMBD has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on rat cardiomyocytes and leukemia cells. The molecular modelling studies indicate that it interacts with dithioerythritol in the ribosome's active site. The binding of 4AMBD to the ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 inhibits cellular proliferation and induces apoptosis in cancer cells.
