3-(3,5-Dibromo-4-hydroxybenzoyl)-2-ethyl-N,N-dimethylbenzofuran-6-sulfonamide is a noncompetitive inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the activity of phosphatase and has been used as an antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic drug. It can also be used as a cancer chemotherapeutic agent with metabolic disorders. 3-(3,5-Dibromo-4-hydroxybenzoyl)-2-ethyl-N,N-dimethylbenzofuran-6-sulfonamide inhibits the protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) enzyme by binding to its active site.
