Product Information
Eupteleasaponin I has been shown to have gastroprotective activity. Eupteleasaponin I is a pentacyclic triterpenoid saponin that was isolated from the roots of Euphorbia esula, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. The effects of Eupteleasaponin I on gastric ulcers were studied using an ethanol-induced ulcer model in rats and a pylorus ligation model in mice. Results showed that pretreatment with Eupteleasaponin I inhibited gastric ulcer development and improved ulcer index in rats and mice. These results indicate that Eupteleasaponin I may be useful for the prevention of ulcers.
