BRD 4354 is a histone deacetylase inhibitor that is chemically similar to the natural product trichostatin A. It has been shown to be effective against HIV infection and cell proliferation in pluripotent stem cells. BRD 4354 is a reversible inhibitor of class I and II histone deacetylases (HDACs) and interacts with the zinc-finger domain of HDACs. This interaction leads to a conformational change in the enzyme, which then releases acetylated lysines from its substrate proteins. The mechanism of action for BRD 4354 involves modification of epigenetic modifications, leading to changes in gene expression.
