Product Information
PSI-7409 is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the replication of herpes simplex virus by blocking viral rna polymerase. PSI-7409 has been shown to be effective against a number of different types of viruses, including hepatitis B and C. PSI-7409 also inhibits the replication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It interacts with the replicon cells in these viruses, preventing the nucleophilic attack on the phosphorus atom in the nucleotide. This interaction prevents DNA synthesis and leads to cell death by apoptosis.
