Product Information
Methyl 3-cyano-1H-indazole-5-carboxylate (MCC) is a fatty acid synthesis inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit acetyl-CoA carboxylase, an enzyme that is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids. MCC also inhibits enzymes involved in the synthesis of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as arachidonic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid. The effect of MCC on polyunsaturated fatty acid synthesis has been demonstrated in animals. Clinical trials have demonstrated that MCC can be used to treat nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, which is associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes mellitus type 2. This drug has also been found to be safe and well tolerated in humans when administered at doses of up to 1 g/day for 28 days.
