Product Information
4-Hydroxybiphenyl-o-sulfate potassium is a synthetic, broad spectrum antibiotic and antiparasitic agent. The chemical structure of 4-hydroxybiphenyl-o-sulfate potassium is similar to that of the natural product biphenyl. It is active against bacteria, protozoa, and viruses. 4-hydroxybiphenyl-o-sulfate potassium has shown activity against many strains of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis resistant to other antibiotics.
4-hydroxybiphenyl-o-sulfate potassium inhibits viral replication by blocking RNA synthesis at the ribosome level. It also inhibits the synthesis of DNA by binding to the DNA gyrase enzyme and preventing it from unwinding double stranded DNA during replication.
