Product Information
- Ethyl (Diphenoxyphosphoryl)Acetate
Ethyl diphenylphosphonoacetate (EDPA) is a phosphorus-containing compound that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is the ester of phosphoric acid and ethyl bromoacetic acid. EDPA has been shown to have activating properties, which may be due to its ability to generate free radicals. This reaction can cause DNA damage in cells that are sensitive to oxidative stress. The use of EDPA in drug development has been limited by the fact that it undergoes racemization, which results in a mixture of stereoisomers with different biological activities. To address this issue, a preparative method was developed using trehalose as an immobilizing agent for the production of pure enantiomeric forms of EDPA. This process allows for the synthesis of both R- and S-enantiomers without racemization or contamination from other stereoisomers.
