Product Information
- 2,2-Dihydroxy-1-(4-Methylphenyl)Ethanone
- (4-Methylphenyl)(Oxo)Acetaldehyde
2,2-Dihydroxy-1-(p-tolyl)ethanone is a benzodiazepine derivative with pharmacological properties. It is an agonist for the GABA receptor, and has been shown to have a high affinity for this receptor. The molecular modelling of the compound has been studied by both crystallographic data and computational techniques. The compound has been shown to yield high levels of benzodiazepine in the body and can be used as an antidote for benzodiazepine poisoning. 2,2-Dihydroxy-1-(p-tolyl)ethanone binds to the benzodiazepine receptor on the surface of nerve cells and increases chloride ion flow through these cells, leading to sedation. This drug also inhibits the production of histamine in response to allergens or other stimuli, which may be due to its interaction with chiral centers on proteins that are involved in histamine synthesis.br>br>
