Product Information

Name:
N-Allylbenzothiazolium bromide
Synonyms:
  • N-Allylbenzoathiazolium bromide
  • 3-(Prop-2-En-1-Yl)-1,3-Benzothiazol-3-Ium Bromide
Description:

N-Allylbenzothiazolium bromide is a catalytic agent that is used in the production of biofuels. It is a byproduct of the oxidation of benzothiazole and can be synthesised from benzothiazole and azide. N-Allylbenzothiazolium bromide has been shown to have moderate yields, but it is marginally better than other halides such as chlorides and iodides. It has been shown to produce mononuclear compounds, which are easier to purify because they do not contain heteroatoms or heavy atoms that could contaminate the product. N-Allylbenzothiazolium bromide was also shown to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of biofuels by producing high yields with minimal byproducts.
