Description:
4-Methoxynaphthalen-1-amine is a cytotoxin that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer cells. The compound is synthesized by the reaction of 4-methoxybenzaldehyde and aniline. It has an amide bond at the N-terminal end and a chloride group at the C-terminal end. 4-Methoxynaphthalen-1-amine binds to acidic residues on proteins, causing the protein to unfold and lose its function. This process is called allylation. This chemical agent has also been shown to inhibit aminopeptidases, which are enzymes that catalyze the cleavage of peptide bonds in proteins at their amino termini.
