Product Information
- 9-Chloro-2-methoxyacridine 97%
9-Chloro-2-methoxyacridine belongs to a class of compounds called acridines. It is an anticancer agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to DNA, leading to DNA damage and cell death. 9-Chloro-2-methoxyacridine has been shown in vivo to inhibit the growth of cervical cancer cells with a potency similar to that of other anticancer agents, such as cytosine arabinoside or vincristine sulfate. This compound also has potent anticancer activity in vitro against leukemia and colon cancer cells, as well as in vivo activity against melanoma. The antitumor effects are due to the ability of 9-chloro-2-methoxyacridine to bind selectively to DNA and inhibit its synthesis. This drug also has photolytic properties: when exposed to light, it undergoes photochemical reactions that generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen
