3-Butoxypropylamine is a nucleoside that inhibits the replication of DNA. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of squamous carcinoma cells and other types of cancer cells in vitro. 3-Butoxypropylamine has also been found to be effective against wild-type strains but not mutants, suggesting it may have a specific effect on cancerous cells. 3-Butoxypropylamine has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential, which is vital for cellular respiration and energy metabolism, and can cause cell death. The effects of 3-butoxypropylamine on glycol ethers have also been studied in plant physiology. This drug has also been shown to be effective against coumarin derivatives in metal hydroxides.
