N-(3-Tolyl)anthranilic Acid is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of analgesics. It is a white solid with a melting point from 158 to 160 °C, and an mp of 157 °C. The optimized synthesis of N-(3-tolyl)anthranilic acid was achieved through a three-step condensation process using nitrobenzene, methyl acetoacetate, and hydrochloric acid. This process yielded 1g of the final product. N-(3-tolyl)anthranilic acid has antiinflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It also has antiinflammatory activity in mice models by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes in order to decrease the production of PGE2.
