Product Information

Name:
2,6-Bis(benzyloxy)pyridine
Description:

2,6-Bis(benzyloxy)pyridine is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It binds to 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. 2,6-Bis(benzyloxy)pyridine has been shown to be active against a wide range of bacteria, including gram-positive (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus), gram-negative (e.g., Escherichia coli), acid-fast (e.g., Mycobacterium tuberculosis) and mycobacteria (e.g., Mycobacterium avium). 2,6-Bis(benzyloxy)pyridine has also shown anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
