Product Information
3,4,6-Tri-O-methyl-D-glucal is a chiral, synthetic monomer that can be used for the synthesis of polyesters and polyamides. 3,4,6-Tri-O-methyl-D-glucal is a vinyl ether that undergoes demethylation by aluminium to form the corresponding alcohol. The reaction time for this process is dependent on the concentration of aluminum. The ligand can be a copolymerization partner with other monomers to form copolymers with different stereoselectivity. 3,4,6-Tri-O-methyl-D-glucal can also react with phosphite to form an organophosphite ester in a preparative method. This product has been shown to have high stereoselectivity and selectivity in reactions involving sugar residues.
