Product Information

Name:
5-Sulfosalicylaldehyde sodium
Synonyms:
  • 5-Sulfosaliylaldehydesodiumsalt
Description:

5-Sulfosalicylaldehyde sodium (5SA) is a ligand that can be used to enhance the hybridization of single stranded DNA in a process called strand displacement. In this process, 5SA binds to the target sequence and causes the complementary strand to dissociate from the target sequence. The strands then bind with each other and form double-stranded DNA. 5SA has been shown to bind specifically to chloride ions and can be immobilized on a surface for voltammetric measurements. This ligand has also been shown to cause morphological changes in bovine serum albumin (BSA), which may be due to its interaction with serum albumin’s sulfur residues.
