Description:
The compound is a quaternary ammonium salt. The compound is soluble in water and has a melting point of about 220°C. It is not very soluble in ethanol or ether and does not react with hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, or nitric acid. The compound reacts with copper oxide to form copper (II) oxide and the compound itself. With hot water, the salt decomposes to form ammonium chloride and phosphoric acid. The compound can be used as an analgesic.
