Silicate (2-) hexafluoro-potassium, also known as hexafluorosilicic acid, is a chemical compound that can be used for the preparation of a reaction solution. It is a colorless, water-soluble liquid. Hexafluorosilicic acid reacts with sodium carbonate to form silica particles and hydrogen fluoride. This chemical can be used to treat wastewater by removing silicon and potassium ions from the water. Hexafluorosilicic acid has an acidic pH and will emit light when heated or exposed to ultraviolet radiation.
