Synonyms:
  • 3-Allyl-1H-Indole
  • 3-(prop-2-en-1-yl)-1H-indole
Description:

3-(2-Propenyl)indole is a synthetic chemical that is used in organic synthesis. It is a Grignard reagent that has been used to synthesize other compounds, such as 2-chloro-3-(2-propenyl)indole. 3-(2-Propenyl)indole can be used in biological studies and has been shown to react with nucleic acids, proteins, and viruses. 3-(2-Propenyl)indole also reacts with sodium carbonate to form 3-chloro-2-(propenyl)indole, which absorbs ultraviolet light at 254 nm. The compound is acidic and reacts with chloride ions to form an ichthyocyanate. The compound reacts with magnesium metal to form an organomagnesium compound.
