Description:
Trans-2-heptenyl acetate is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of aldehydes. It has been shown to produce pheromones for filamentous fungi and plant toxins. Trans-2-heptenyl acetate has been detected in the headspace of plants, where it is produced as a result of enzyme catalysis. It is also an efficient method for extracting volatile organic compounds from food samples by solid phase microextraction.
