Potassium hexachlororhenate(IV) is a ligand that can be used for the treatment of hypophosphorous acid and chlorine. It has been shown to catalyze the reaction between ammonium chloride and chlorine at a temperature of 100°C. The reaction yield is dependent on the flow rate and inorganic species present, as well as the thermodynamic characteristics of the chemical species involved. The bifunctional nature of this compound makes it an excellent candidate for use in industrial processes such as wastewater treatment.
