Deoxysotalol is an active metabolite of the drug sotalol that is excreted in urine. Deoxysotalol-d7 is a stable isotope-labeled analog of deoxysotalol that can be used to measure the uptake and distribution of sotalol in human cells by immunofluorescence. The uptake of deoxysotalol-d7 has been shown to be higher in cancerous cells, upwelling, and nutrient-starved cells than in healthy cells. Deoxysotalone-d7 can be used for the treatment of parathyroid disease, as it inhibits cell proliferation. This agent may also potentiate 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid or modify matrix molecules.
