Product Information
9-(4-Nitrophenyl)carbazole is an imine that can be obtained through the oxidation of 9-bromocarbazole with nitric acid. It has a bright yellow color and is soluble in organic solvents. 9-(4-Nitrophenyl)carbazole can undergo electropolymerization to form an insoluble film with a high resistivity. This process can be catalyzed by acidic or basic substances. 9-(4-Nitrophenyl)carbazole was synthesized to serve as a chemosensor for various types of chemical warfare agents, such as nerve gases, sulfur mustard, lewisite, and phosgene oxime. The sensitivity of this molecule to these agents is due to its ability to undergo redox reactions and change its fluorescence spectrum following exposure. This molecule also exhibits mechanistic behavior when reacting with reactive compounds such as nitroaromatic compounds, which leads to a shift in its N
