Product Information
Oxazine 4 perchlorate is a polymerase chain inhibitor that has been shown to be toxic to the thyroid. It binds to the DNA-dependent RNA polymerase and prevents transcription, leading to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis. Oxazine 4 perchlorate has been shown in vitro assays to have no adverse effects on male and female infant rats at doses up to 2000 mg/kg/day. The most prominent toxicological finding was a decrease in circulating thyroxine (T4) levels in females, which returned following cessation of exposure. In vivo studies using a model system suggest that oxazine 4 perchlorate may interact with nitrate under certain conditions, but this effect is not seen with other ions such as sodium chloride or magnesium sulfate.
