(+)-Abscisic aldehyde is a reactive molecule that can form acids. It has been shown to have physiological effects on plants, such as the inhibition of acid formation and the promotion of ATP-binding cassette transporter. (+)-Abscisic aldehyde also has immunoassays and biological studies to determine its role in plant physiology. Abscisic aldehyde is biosynthesized from abscisate and then converted into an active form through acetylation. The enzyme responsible for this conversion is called acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase/reductase (ACCase).
