4-Iodo-2-methylbenzaldehyde is a chemotherapeutic agent that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vivo by inducing apoptosis. It binds to the active site of the enzyme phosphatase, which is found in cancer cells. 4-Iodo-2-methylbenzaldehyde also inhibits transcription and protein synthesis, leading to cell death.
