Description:
o-Tolyl trifluoromethanesulfonate is a nucleophilic reagent that can be used as a diazotization agent to convert an alkyne to an alkene. o-Tolyl trifluoromethanesulfonate can also be used to form a triflate, which is an ionized carbon group with three fluorine atoms attached. o-Tolyl trifluoromethanesulfonate competes with decarbonylation and reacts stereoselectively with electron-deficient alkenes. It is able to react with heterocycles and cyclic compounds, but not aromatic ones.
