Description:
2-(Furan-2-yl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine is an organic compound that belongs to the class of furyl pyrimidines. It is a sulfonated derivative of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine and has been shown to act as an electrophilic sulfonating agent. 2-(Furan-2-yl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine can be synthesized by the reaction of hydrobromic acid with azocoupling and bromination. This compound undergoes nitrosation with hydrobromic acid or nitrous acid to form 2-(furan-2-yl)-5'-nitroimidazopyridine.
