Product Information
4-Hydroxy-6-methoxyquinoline-2-carboxylic acid (4HMQ) is an anti-influenza virus compound that has been shown to have a selective antiviral activity against influenza A virus. 4HMQ inhibits viral growth by binding to the viral nucleic acid and preventing the synthesis of new viral particles. It also inhibits the release of host cell proteins required for virus replication, such as active substances and growth factor. 4HMQ has been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms such as fever and dysuria in animal studies. This drug has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth by binding to naphthalene, which is a carcinogen. 4HMQ also reacts with acid-reactive substances in the body, leading to its elimination from the body via urine or bile acids.
