Product Information
1-(Thiophen-2-ylmethyl)piperidine is an organic compound that belongs to the group of n-oxides and aldehydes. It has been shown to have leuckart activity, which is a type of chemical reaction that converts primary or secondary amines into thiophenes. This reaction can be catalyzed by metal complexes such as ferric chloride, which causes amines to react with hydrogen peroxide and form hydroxylamine. The hydroxylamine then reacts with sulfur dioxide in the presence of base to form sulfonamide. 1-(Thiophen-2-ylmethyl)piperidine has also been shown to produce aldehydes when heated with acidified nitrous oxide gas and oxygen gas, which can be used for the synthesis of other compounds such as dithiocarbamates.
