- Benzene, 1-(2-Chloro-2-Propen-1-Yl)-4-Methoxy-
2-Chloro-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-propene (2CMPP) is a synthetic estrogen that has been shown to induce cancer in animals. 2CMPP is metabolized by the enzyme dehydrogenase and it induces regression of human breast cancer cells. This drug also interacts with the estrogen receptors, which are nuclear receptors found in the nuclei of cells. 2CMPP binds to these receptors, inducing cancer cell death by signaling the cell to stop dividing and inducing apoptosis. 2CMPP is a chemokine inducer, meaning it can induce other cells to produce chemokines, which are proteins that attract leukocytes (white blood cells). These chemokines can be used as biomarkers for 2CMPP activity.
