Description:
4-Chloro-1-(3,5-di-O-toluoyl-2-deoxy-β-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine is a synthetic nucleoside analog that is an anti cancer agent. This compound inhibits the growth of cancer cells by interfering with DNA synthesis and RNA synthesis. The 4C1TP has been shown to inhibit the production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, a cytokine that plays an important role in immunopathology. It also has antiviral properties against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV2). The 4C1TP is phosphorylated to the 5'-monophosphate form by cellular kinases and can be converted to the active 5'-diphosphate form by cellular phosphatases.
