Cinnamylidencyanothioacetamide is used as an intermediate for the synthesis of pyridine derivatives and carbonyl compounds. The compound can be prepared from cinnamic acid and thiourea by reacting with acetic anhydride in the presence of benzaldehyde or ketones.
