Description:
2-Methyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazole is a trifluoromethyl imidazole derivative that can be prepared by reacting 2-methylpropene with formaldehyde and hydrochloric acid. This compound has been shown to have high yields in the presence of a palladium catalyst. The sterically bulky formyl group stabilizes the reactive intermediate, which leads to high yields.
