Tris(4-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl)amine is a coligand that binds to the metal ion in the centre of the supramolecular complex. It has been synthesised and used as a ligand for supramolecular chemistry. Tris(4-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl)amine is also an effective fluorescent probe for mitochondria that can be used to detect and measure chloride ions in cells. The copolymerization of this compound with monoradical dyes yields copolymers with optical properties that are useful for opto-electronic applications.
