Description:
TRAP-6 is a biocompatible polymer that has been shown to have platelet-activating properties. It is composed of two polymers, L-glutamic acid and N,N'-diallyl-L-cystamine. TRAP-6 is used as an in vitro model system to study thrombin receptor activation and the effect of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on platelets. The TRAP-6 polymer has also been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential in colon cells and reduce bowel disease activity in vivo.
TRAP-6 shows receptor activity against thrombin and inhibits the production of cytosolic Ca2+.
