2-(2-Bromophenyl)-N-methylacetamide is a dna damaging agent that is structurally related to cepharadione. It is an analog of the natural product, 2-bromobenzaldehyde, which has been shown to inhibit DNA synthesis in bacteria and yeast. 2-(2-Bromophenyl)-N-methylacetamide was found to be a potent inhibitor of dna damage in human lymphocytes and human fibroblast cells. The mechanism of action for this compound may be due to the inhibition of DNA repair enzymes.
