Glyceryl tri(hexadecanoate-d31) is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of lipids. Glyceryl tri(hexadecanoate-d31) undergoes hydrolysis by lipase to form diacylglycerol and glycerol. The diacylglycerols are then converted into acyl-CoA esters, which are either used for energy or stored in the form of triglycerides. Glyceryl tri(hexadecanoate-d31) has been shown to induce inflammation and insulin resistance in mice exposed to high fat diets. These effects may be due to the activation of hormone-sensitive lipase, leading to increased production of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6, which contribute to insulin resistance.
