Description:
2-Iodo-4-methoxy-1-(phenylsulfonyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine is a peptide that is used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology. It is an activator of ion channels and has been shown to inhibit the binding of ligands to receptors. 2-Iodo-4-methoxy-1-(phenylsulfonyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine binds to the extracellular loop of the L type voltage gated calcium channel (CaV). This binding prevents CaV activation and prevents the influx of Ca2+ ions into cells.
