Product Information

Name:
N-Succinimidyl 4-(2-pyridyldithio)pentanoate
Description:

N-Succinimidyl 4-(2-pyridyldithio)pentanoate (SPDP) is a reagent that has been used extensively in the field of bioconjugation and immunoconjugates. It is used to introduce reactive groups such as azides, maleimides, iodoacetamides, and haloacetamides onto biomolecules. These groups are then used for the conjugation of biomolecules to other molecules with complementary reactive groups. This reagent has been shown to be cytotoxic against cancer cells, specifically breast cancer cells that express trastuzumab (Herceptin®). SPDP has also been shown to have proteolytic activity and can be used as a fluorescent probe for studying lysosomes.
