The protein Nampt inhibitor-linker 1 is a member of the NAMPT family. It is an enzyme that converts nicotinamide to nicotinamide mononucleotide in cells. Nampt inhibitor-linker 1 has been shown to be an activator of the receptor for amyloid precursor protein (APP) and may play a role in Alzheimer's disease. This protein is also involved in the regulation of ion channels, such as potassium channels, and ligand-gated ion channels, such as NMDA receptors.
