Product Information
6-(Ethyl(3-isopropoxy-4-isopropylphenyl)amino)nicotinic acid (EETN) is an experimental drug that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in rats. The mechanism of action for EETN is not yet fully understood, but it has been shown to be active in suppressing the activation of the transcription factor NF-κB and preventing its translocation into the nucleus. The compound also inhibits carrageenan-induced inflammation in rats and reduces swelling, erythema and induration. EETN also has been shown to reduce inflammation by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6 and TNFα. This property may be due to its ability to inhibit phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), an enzyme that breaks down cAMP.
