Product Information
Rizatriptan-d6 benzoate is a drug product that is used as an impurity standard for HPLC. It is synthesized from the natural compound rizatriptan by adding a benzoic acid group to the 6 position of the indole ring. The synthesis of Rizatriptan-d6 benzoate is accomplished by reacting rizatriptan with benzoyl chloride in pyridine. The synthesis of this compound takes place in two steps: first, the addition of benzoyl chloride to rizatriptan and second, the removal of water from the reaction mixture. This process yields a white powder with a melting point of 202°C, which can be used as an impurity standard for HPLC analysis.
Rizatriptan-d6 benzoate has been shown to be metabolized through glucuronidation, sulfation, and oxidation via cytochrome P450 enzymes. It also binds to protein
