Product Information
- O-Acetyl-L-Threonine
(2S,3R)-3-Acetoxy-2-aminobutanoic acid is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of l-threonine. It is synthesized by the enzyme phosphoserine acetyltransferase and converted to (2S,3R)-3-acetoxy-2-aminobutanoic acid ee by the enzyme acetate kinase. This compound is then converted to l-threonine via a series of reactions involving methyl alcohol, pyridoxal phosphate, and extracellular signal.
The optimum pH for this conversion is between 6.0 and 7.0. The reaction rate also increases with increasing temperature from 25°C up to 40°C. At higher temperatures, however, the reaction rate decreases due to the evaporation of water from the solution.
