Product Information
- 2,3-Piperidinedicarboxylic acid
Piperidine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid is a physiological function that is involved in the synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It also has pharmacological properties, including excitatory and inhibitory effects. Piperidine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid can act as an antagonist at GABA receptors. These effects are mediated by the binding of piperidine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid to the receptor site on GABA A . The binding of this agent to the receptor blocks the action of GABA, which causes an excitatory effect. Piperidine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid has been shown to have excitatory properties in cell cultures and model systems. It has been shown to increase levels of glutamate in neurons in cell culture experiments.
