Product Information
2-(4-chlorophenyl)furan is a triplet that can be formed by the thermal ring-opening of furans or by the reaction of furans with azides. The triplet is an electrophilic species and can react with nucleophiles such as amines, alcohols, and thiols to form adducts. 2-(4-chlorophenyl)furan is thermally stable and reacts with azide ions to form a triazole. The ring-opened product can also react with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and dimethyl azide to form thermolysis products. 2-(4-chlorophenyl)furan is used as a precursor for lignans in the synthesis of natural products.
